A close-knit community rooted in Hemmige village, known for learning, service and cultural continuity.
Overview
Hemmige Iyengars derive their identity from the historic village of Hemmige near Tirumakudalu Narasipura (T. Narasipura) in Karnataka. Part of the broader Sri Vaishnava tradition, they have long been associated with Vedic learning, temple service and scholarship.
Though smaller in number, Hemmige families have contributed significantly to education, administration and religious life. Strong family networks and community associations continue to preserve their distinctive identity. Today, Hemmige Iyengars live across India and overseas, united by their ancestral roots and enduring cultural bonds.
